The Specifics

Children today spend less time playing outdoors than any previous generation, a fact that is having disastrous consequences on their health, achievement levels, and overall well-being. National non-profit KaBOOM! believes there should be a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Odds are good that there’s a playground in your neighborhood that could use a little TLC, and KaBOOM! and Let’s Play – a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families active nationwide- would like to help you fix that.

Share your great idea for improving a playground in your neighborhood and you could win $1,000 to help make your playground dream come true. Two runners-up will receive $750 each for their projects. It doesn’t have to be a big idea. Maybe the playground could use some new benches for parents to sit on while they watch their kids play. Maybe it could use some landscaping, flowers, and mulch. Whatever your idea is, if it will make the playground better, KaBOOM! wants to hear about it.

Keep in mind that you’re going to need to work with a local non-profit, school, or park district to get permission to work on the playground, and you’re going to need volunteers to help you make your idea come to life. If you need some inspiration, check out OurDreamPlayground.org – a new online tool from KaBOOM! that helps people just like you make their playground dreams come true.

So submit your idea, and let KaBOOM! and Let’s Play help you save play in your neighborhood today.
