Yu Ying is a public charter school and its own local educational agency (nonprofit). During the second half of SY 2011-2012, a meeting was held between parents, teachers, administrators and local community members to determine a plan for the undeveloped back acre. A Master Plan was created from input from this meeting. Included in the plan is simple outdoor classrooms, a treetop outdoor classroom, a school garden and an outdoor nature type play area.

Legends South is one of the largest revitalization efforts ever undertaken in the City of Chicago. Central to this ambitious and comprehensive plan is the integration of the development site with the surrounding community. Working with nonprofit Michaels Development and the Legends South residents, Vertical Play Farm is the iconic place-maker of a community garden that has been planned by the residents and will help establish the first phase of public green space for this development.

RISE is a nonprofit

Star Island is a non-profit that owns the playground. As a Star Island community of staff, volunteers, and guests, we will all cooperate to bring about a positive change for our playground.

Bull City Fit (BCF) and Durham Parks and Recreation will partner for the project. BCF, an outreach program of Duke Medical Center, targets obese children in the Durham area. BCF provides free resources to improve participants’ lifestyle including access to cardio equipment, outdoor field space, and cooking/gardening lessons. Specifics of the equipment to be installed will be decided jointly by the BCF participants, Durham Parks and Recreation employees, and regular visitors to Edison Johnson.

The Parent Teacher Organization will work closely with Great Salt Bay Community School's administration, staff, students and parents. On September 28th, the GSB PTO will team with Learning Structures, Inc. to host a full day of brainstorming and planning. A professional designer will take this community input and then weave it into a custom design for our school.

Heidi Wise, Gina Privatsky and Meghan Morse will be designing the playground upgrades. Meghan Morse, Volunteer Coordinator from Hands-On Twin Cities, will help design the green space and research quality basketball hoops. Heidi Wise, Grant Writer, will work closely with Meghan to plan the playground. Gina Privatsky, Physical Education Teacher, will design the exercise stations. Collaboration is a key element in making the playground upgrades a success.

McHenry Primary in Rome GA. Since I am the physical education teacher at the school, I will work with a team to help decide what playground pieces will be purchased.

Success Preparatory Academy (SPA) is a non-profit charter elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana. We want to retrofit our own playground.

Rocky Cross Baptist Church. We already have chosen the playground and would love to get started!

Brockton Day Nursery is a non-profit school who serves an inner city demographic. 99% of our families live below the poverty level. Our program is all inclusive, we provide all meals, diapers, wipes and formula along with mental health and behavioral health services. Our program has two social workers on site and we partner with several nonprofit agencies in the area to provide additional services such as South Bay Mental Health, Community Care Service and Early Intervention.

The Jackson Purchase Foundation, a nonprofit organization, will work with HH Lovett Park to select, purchase, and install seating around the newly constructed basketball court. We will consult with park staff before purchasing any benches to ensure the benches will meet the needs of the park, including size, color and durability.

Camden County Parks Department is our partner and they have chosen Challenge Grove (site of Jake's Place, the proposed Miracle Field and Special Olympics competitions) as their preferred site for any project aimed at those with disabilities or special needs. We have their full cooperation - and they will maintain and insure the site after our involvement.

By collaborating with the City of South Bend Parks Department and leaders at the Perley Primary Fine Arts Academy, along with members of the neighborhood (both adults and kids), I would hope to gather input and ideas from the community about how to best put our resources to good use serving the park and the surrounding area.

Our project will be a partnership between Playworks (local non-profit) and John Muir Elementary. Playworks staff and coaches will work with the principal, PE staff and teachers at the school to come up with the plan for their playground. With the funds supplied through this challenge we will buy all the supplies needed for the project.

I am an AmeriCorps VITSA working with the nonprofit Browning Community Development Corporation (BCDC). We have been working on plans to renew a city park next to our office and looking for funds to expand on the small playground the is a part of it.

Camp Bernie has a space chosen for the playground (see media image), and since it’s owned by the Ridgewood YMCA, all that would be necessary to do is obtain permitting.

Stephenson Elementary School and Stephenson Elementary PTA. A design has already been proposed and approved by school staff.

We are working with the Steward School in Topsfield, MA. We have had extensive meetings so far with the School Committee, the school principal and nurse, Parks and Recreation and the Town Selectman. We have sought input from the principal and school nurse to create the most fun, yet safe playground possible. We also traveled to 10 other playgrounds in the area to research each playground vendor. We took photos and had our own children play on each one to get "real" input from real kids.
